Hood Cleaning

A kitchen exhaust hood packed with grease is a fire waiting for a reason. It is also one of the first things an inspector looks at, and one of the easiest things to let slide because it is above eye level.

We strip hoods, filters and exhaust runs back toward bare metal and document the work so you have a record for your file.

What the Job Actually Involves

  • Hood and canopy

Interior and exterior surfaces degreased, including the areas above the filter line that rarely get touched.

  • Filters

Removed, soaked, cleaned and refitted, or flagged for replacement when they are past useful life.

  • Exhaust runs and fans

Ductwork and fan housings cleaned as far as access allows, which is where the real fire load sits.

  • Documentation

Work recorded so you can show what was done and when, which is what an inspector actually wants to see.

How We Run It

  1. Protect the line

Equipment and prep surfaces covered before anything comes apart. Degreaser and food surfaces do not mix.

  2. Dismantle and soak

Filters and removable parts taken out and soaked rather than scrubbed in place.

  3. Degrease to metal

Surfaces worked back toward bare metal, not just wiped to a shine that hides the build up underneath.

  4. Reassemble and record

Everything back together, the kitchen left ready, and the work written up for your records.

Questions We Get Asked

How often do hoods need cleaning?
It depends on volume and what you cook. High volume frying needs it far more often than a light use kitchen. We will tell you honestly what your cycle should be.
Will the kitchen be out of action?
For the duration of the clean, yes, which is why it is scheduled overnight or on a closed day.
Do you provide a record of the work?
Yes. You get documentation for your file, which is the point of doing it on a schedule rather than reactively.
